Tractor John Deere 5303 failures. Engine loses power.
I’ve got a John Deere 5303 Tractor with a B model engine. I’ve got a few problems with it. I’m pretty new to John Deere’s and have only had it for a little while.
The first problem is that the engine loses power. It seems to lose power when I’m going up hills or down hill.
The second problem is that the tractor won’t run with the power take off engaged. It will only run when the power take off is disconnected. I’ve tried cleaning the carb and throttle. I was told to replace the throttle position sensor. I’m wondering if that is the problem. I’ve also been told to replace the fuel filter. I’ve replaced the air filter. I’m wondering if anyone has any experience with the B model engines.
I’m sure they are better than the ones in the A model tractors.
How can I get rid of problem?
Tractor Jhone Deere 5303. My be too much oil in the crankcase. Drain oil to the correct level. Turbocharger faulty. Cleaning the carb and throttle or replaced the air filter. The plastic air filter box should be replaced with a metal box.
It can be a combination of the above. Also, if the motor is overheated, the oil can get burnt and dirty and that can cause a bad smell and a lot of smoke from the exhaust.
It can also be the crankcase. I would drain the oil first. If you have any pressure in the oil, you will have a lot of smoke from the exhaust. It can also be an air filter. If the filter is old, then you can have a lot of smoke and the smell of burnt oil.
